Our Objectives
Tū Mai Digital is a not-for-profit initiative with the objective of:
- Equitable access to digital inclusion and reduce the disadvantages for the most digitally-excluded individuals and communities in the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga Moana.
- Provide a hand up to empower the participants to achieve self-sufficient digital inclusion.
- A sustainable and enduring program that is flexible enough to meet a wide variety of needs.
- Help participants for as long as they need it.
- Easy and low resource for Community Providers to engage with
Easy, comfortable, and culturally aligned for each participant. - Responsible disposal of e-waste.

Collaboration within our Community
Tu Mai Digital is a collaboration of community organisations. This community venture is the driving force behind the initiative. Formally it operates under Poutiri Trust, who acts as the contracting entity and fund holder. Key activities include, community group networking, contributor recruitment and relationships including funding & sponsorship applications, and scheme administration and reporting.

Contributors
These are organisations contributing to the program. Tu Mai Digital seeks support from funders (e.g. charities, government, councils) and industry participants (e.g. telcos, fibre companies, trainers, device suppliers). Contributors typically have a formal relationship with Tu Mai Digital to provide resources for use in the community.

Community Groups
Community groups are the network between the Tu Mai digital, contributors, and the community receiving support. They can be formal or informal organisations. Community groups have the trusted relationship with the recipients. The community groups access contributor resources via Tu Mai Digital for the benefit of their community. This creates a tool for the community group to use alongside other resources to ensure everything needed to successfully give recipients a hand up is supplied. Success often requires non-digital support services to create the wraparound package needed for success.

I would like to personally thank Tu Mai Digital and their amazing support in my study journey I was provided a laptop for my Bachelor's Degree and it has helped me so much in my journey to study I no longer have to borrow laptops and has made me confident in attending classes as it's a nice portable laptop nga mihi TuMai Digital so much.

Earlier this year my daughters laptop was stolen from her bag while she was doing p.e in her school gym. she was without a laptop for a couple of weeks. due to being a single mum, i was unable to afford another one. this was having a bad affect on her school work as her homework is mainly done online and she was unable to do any at home. she started failing some tests at school and this was affecting her self esteem as all the other kids in her classes had laptops and were passing their tests. She felt embarrassed.
I talked to some family about this situation and one of our family members told me to get in contact with Brett from Poutiri trust as he might be able to help. i told him my situation and what had happened to my daughters laptop, and without hesitation he offered a laptop for my daughter from Tumai digital. this was a big help and stress off my shoulders. since receiving the laptop my daughters grades have improved so much, she's not so embarrassed in classes anymore and is back on track with her school work. we appreciate the help we have received. Thank you tumai digital. We appreciate you !!

To be able to have a laptop in our whare from your service has been great benefit for all our online learning and courses that we all have been wanting to do and now having access to a laptop we are able to do our courses. My name is Jayanna and I just want to take the opportunity to thank Tu Mai Digital for helping me out with a laptop for study.
I am currently studying a bachelors in physio therapy and I had expressed to my kai mahi that I needed a laptop for semester 2 not only for study but for everyday life things like online bank transactions budgeting templates and because we live in such an online world these days everything can be stressed less now about having no device. Brett and the team at Tu Mai have helped so much came and set it up for me and said if I had any issues to just contact them.
I can’t express how much this has kick started my year off and allowing me not get into course related costs debt this year I think this will help a wide range of whanau to studying students like myself or our elders being provided a device to do their bills and online things and any whanau needing help with devices this year.

My Experience with TuMai Digital has been awesome, they have helped me in so many ways! To have been given a laptop for my daughter to learn how to do things online as most things are done on technology these days down to the internet! Helping me set up and offering their services is top notch! Couldn't thank them enough.

Thanks to the Tu Mai digital inclusion pilot project .This whanau of four, with the grandmother being the primary caregiver of two young children, was able to be provided with a Chromebook and an internet connection at no cost. This included being able to communicate much more easily with government agencies like Work and Income NZ, NZ Health, Police, and Social Service agencies. Her mokopuna were able to learn to use the Chromebook for learning and education purposes as well as some fun educational games and activities. The free connection to the internet provided them with much needed extra dollars per month to purchase food and services the whanau needed. The whanau were so very grateful and have been able to widen their social and support networks. It was an honour and a privilege for FAB to be involved in this pilot project and to see the joy and gratitude of this whanau.

Kia ora whanau sorry for the the late reply you have actually made my life and my mental health alot easier for researching its alot easier to manage my typing and gained abit of skills with touch typing....I started my studies towards my apprenticeship for roofing in the past I have been using my phone which I felt abit hoha with the spelling of things with the keyboard much better now ....on my downtime I manage to download a app where I enjoy to pursue my music which I wasn't able to do that on a normal phone this has help me a lot to the point I've been setting goals to achieve my goals with your supports I appreciate your willing to help others like me that are unfortunate to have these resources to help gain our skills much love whanau God bless thank you for your support.....

Hi, I would like to say thank you for supporting me with the laptop . I am currently doing my level 2 in being a support person for our community. This sort of mahi is a big help for our community, helping our kaumatua and also the ones who suffer in mental health. I also would to achieve my level 3-4 levels, so I can be a better support person for our community.So once again, thank you so much and I appreciate the support you have given me to achieve my goals.

Do I qualify for a free Internet connection?
If you have children enrolled in school, and/or attending a school and you don't currently have an internet connection then you are eligible. Send an email to info@tumaidigital.org.nz and we can help you connect with the right people.
What if I don't have a device to connect to the internet?
All good. We can potentially help with that too. Send us an email to contact@tumaidigital.org.nz and we will come back to you as soon as we can.
What if I dont have school age children but need to the internet?
